Donovan's phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw a WhatsApp message from Giselle, "The bathroom door won't open. Come check it for me?"
He found the message utterly childish and tossed the phone aside, ignoring it.
But less than a minute later, a sense of unease crept in. As if something clicked, he suddenly stood up from the table without a word and left the dining room, his expression dark as he walked toward the first-floor bathroom.
He knocked on the door—firm but not too loud.
Giselle opened it almost immediately.
He looked at her coldly. "What is it?"
"Come in." Giselle grabbed him by the arm, pulled him inside, and quickly locked the door behind them.
