Chapter 39
Seraphina's POV
The man lost control, but he managed to brake at the last second. The tension was so intense that snow flew everywhere. However, it was too late. His efforts were in vain because he fell hard when his board got stuck. He rolled in front of me, with his ski equipment landing on top of him.
Shocked by what had happened, I suddenly felt my knees go weak and sat down in front of him.
We both sat in silence for a moment, our heavy breathing the only sound. I could only bow my head, my body trembling, unable to look at his face, as the shock in my chest still felt terrifying.
But then, suddenly—
"What were you doing there?" he hissed, his voice sharp and accusatory. "You were blocking the slope!"
My mouth dropped open in disbelief, then I looked up and dared to meet his eyes. "Sorry?"
"Did you hear me?" he continued, brushing snow off his gear with an aggressive gesture. "This is a ski trail, not a parking lot. You can't stand like an obstacle in the middle of the slope."
