This whole thing was his fault—he was the one who got violent first. In the end, he just cursed, “Bunch of money-drainers,” and stormed upstairs.
Laura rushed in after hearing the commotion, tears already falling uncontrollably.
“Sis, Laura, don’t worry, I’m fine. It’s just a scratch,” Justin forced a smile, trying to lighten the mood.
“I’m taking you to the hospital, now,” Denise said firmly.
She drove him to a nearby clinic where a doctor cleaned up the wound and reminded them to keep it dry. It would heal with some rest.
Denise felt awful. Once again, Justin got hurt because of her.
Ever since they were kids, Vivian and Samantha bullied her constantly—especially Vivian. As Grace’s biological daughter, Denise was the target of their resentment. Every time Denise was hit, it was Justin who ran in to shield her, either physically stepping in or arguing with the two of them. And every time, he paid the price.
