Denise finally glanced at her phone—it was Jason calling. God, how embarrassing. She actually thought it was Vincent.
“Uh... nothing, just some pushy real estate agent. Wouldn't stop calling,” Denise laughed awkwardly, pulling an excuse out of thin air.
“That’s good,” Jason said. “I’m about to get off work. Are you still at the hospital? I’ll swing by and pick you up—we’re heading somewhere.”
“Sure.”
As soon as the call ended, Denise felt mentally split in two. This was all Vincent’s fault, seriously.
“Lily, I think you’ve been fooled by Vincent’s whole public image. You have no idea—deep down he’s super cheeky. Says whatever comes to mind, like a proper flirt,” Denise said to her friend.
“No way, he seems really nice,” Lily replied, clearly not buying it.
“That’s just what you see on TV. Most celebs are just a carefully wrapped package. In front of the cameras, they’re one way, and behind the scenes? Totally different story. You’ll see once you meet him.”
