SOPHIA'S POV
The air around me felt thick, the kind that made it hard to breathe, suffocating in its stillness. I glanced around the room, a luxurious space bathed in low.
I scoffed as I looked around expecting that one person to show up. I glaced at the one clock and sighed before lighting a cigarette and taking a drag from it.
Then, she emerged from the shadows, a woman whose presence was like a living darkness, gliding across the room as if she were made of smoke. Her face was hidden beneath a hood, her features shrouded, but I could feel her eyes—cold, calculating, fixed on me, and I stared at her back in the eyes watching as her lip turned into a smirk telling me the reason I was here was not really pleasant.
She stopped just short of the candlelight, her voice a whisper that seemed to vibrate through my bones. "Someone has gotten too close, Sophia," she said, her tone dripping with warning. "And now, it's time for him to pay."
