Chapter 116: Truth's Looking Glass
Chloe and Liam forged on into the forest, their brains ticking away. Somewhere out there was Marcus, but at least they had a lead now. They followed it further down the trail and deeper into the wilderness, with towering ancient trees overhead.
"We need to stay focused," Chloe said, her eyes scanning the surroundings. "The next clue is close."
Liam nodded, his mind alert. "Let's find it before Marcus does."
The forest was dense, yet they moved with determination. Every step moved them to an exposed treasure whose power was further realized, and they could not let it fall into the wrong hands.
Suddenly, they broke into a clearing. In the center, there was an enormous, ornate mirror with its surface gleaming with some light unnatural in character. The frame was chiseled very elaborately with figures of mythical creatures and ancient battles.
"It's beautiful," Chloe whispered, stepping closer. "But there's something. unsettling about it."
