#Chapter 66 - Frenzy
I saw the heated anger flare behind Lorenzo’s eyes. Oh, shit.
My blood ran cold at the realization that he was very likely picking up Cruz’s distinguishable scent which must have clung to me after he and I parted ways at the cafe. It was overly musky and a bit too much on the senses.
Of course, my meeting with Cruz was never meant to have occurred in the first place. But a small voice in the back of my mind told me that I was going to have a hell of a time trying to explain that to Lorenzo.
The man looked like he was on the verge of a total frenzy. I tried to keep my calm, knowing that he was very quickly losing his. Slowly raising my hand up, I kept our gazes locked.
“Lorenzo,” I said evenly. “Listen to me—”
“Why?!” he barked out viciously. “Why the fuck do you smell like Sterling?”
A shiver of fear raced down my spine. I felt my wolf quiver within me. This wasn’t the first time I’d seen Lorenzo lose his resolve to his second nature. But it was a whole other, unsettling
