Later that day, I found myself walking alongside Elijah through the corridors of the pack’s administrative building yet again. I struggled to keep up with his quick pace, my heels clicking loudly on the marble floors.
“Today, I’d like you to join me in several meetings,” Elijah said, glancing over at me. “It will be a good opportunity for you to get familiar with our operations.”
I nodded, clutching the notebook he’d handed me earlier. “I’ll do my best to keep up.”
“Just take notes for now.,” he replied, opening a frosted glass door for me. “Don’t worry about understanding everything immediately.”
We entered a spacious conference room where a long mahogany table dominated the space. High-backed chairs lined either side, and a massive screen hung on the far wall. As we took our seats, various department heads began to file in, each offering polite nods or murmured greetings.
