“What?” Christian gasped, his hand stiffening on my back. “Since when? Why didn’t you tell me anything?” He inquired, his voice tinged with restlessness.
Stan appeared equally shocked, his brow furrowed in consternation.
Glancing at both men, I sighed helplessly. “It started yesterday. After I said goodbye to William at the airport, I went to the hospital. I had to work late yesterday. A little before midnight, I left the hospital and went to my car, but—but I felt someone was following me. Scared, I hurriedly entered my car when I noticed an envelope on my windshield. There,” I paused, swallowing hard, and continued, “there I found some photos of mine; they were..…” I described everything, including the doll I had received.
"Was it when I knocked on your car window?" Stan inquired promptly after I concluded.
“Yeah,” I admitted truthfully.
He sighed, "I understand why you were so quiet. You seemed anxious, and I now realize why. It's just I hadn't anticipated such a reason." H
