Chapter 19 Why Do You Care
"It'll be soon," Jeanette said softly but firmly.
It was the answer William had wanted, yet hearing it left a sour taste he couldn't name. He stood there for a moment in silence, then turned and walked away.
Jeanette stayed on the call with Marcus and didn't hear William's footsteps outside the door.
Marcus, buoyed by her reply, let out a pleased laugh. "That's great news, Jean! You never should've married William in the first place! You could've saved yourself all that heartbreak! Forget about him. Send me your address, and I'll get the sample sent over!"
"Alright," she said with a smile.
She did regret choosing William.
