Chapter 24 William Asked You to Apologize
By all rights, William should've sided with Giselle without question. That was just the kind of man Jeanette thought he was.
Maybe the doubt was written too plainly on her face, because William sounded almost resigned. "I'm not that unreasonable."
Jeanette lowered her gaze, said nothing, and reached for the ointment in his hand. "I'll handle it myself."
He looked down at her hand. Her fingers were slender and soft, yet cool in a way that wasn't normal. Once she had the tube, she didn't spare him so much as a glance. Her cold attitude made his eyes cloud with irritation.
Being stared at made her uneasy. She lifted her head and asked, "Mr. Ashford, aren't you leaving?"
William was taken aback by the dismissal.
In the past, just a few kind words from him would've left her blushing. But now, even when he had tended her wound, she was showing him nothing but coldness.
She couldn't seriously have fallen out of love with him, could she?
William didn't believe it.
