It didn't take long for the plan to form, and once it did, Brayden and I were already halfway across the clearing, leaving Jack behind. I didn't know if that was smart or suicidal. Probably both.
Brayden didn't talk. He walked like a man who didn't need to speak to be understood. Shoulders squared, gaze forward, jaw clenched. An Alpha, through and through. The kind that expected obedience, not conversation.

Because truth be told, I didn't trust myself to speak either. Not with how fast my thoughts were spiraling. I was being sent back into the lion's den, pretending to be a loyal dog. The Aisha I knew now was sharp, suspicious, and cold in ways I didn't know how to counter.
