James could tell that his words weren't reaching Grace. Only Oliver could get through to her.
"Stop crying. You're pregnant. Being upset will affect the baby's health," James said softly.
This time, his words hit home. Grace raised her arm and wiped away her tears, though the pain in her heart didn't magically vanish.
"James, if anything had happened to Hazel, I would regret it for the rest of my life," she said, her voice trembling.
James tilted his head back and stared at the hospital's ceiling. "Don't say that. I would too."
