I hesitated for a moment, debating whether or not to pick it up. Ultimately, my sense of decency won out, and I bent down to retrieve the fallen device.
When I picked up the phone, a notification popped up on the screen. Curiosity was getting the better of me. I glanced at the message, only to feel my stomach twist into a knot.
It was from an unknown number, and the message read, "Is it done? Is Camilla out of the picture?"
A chill ran down my spine as I realized what this meant. Justin hadn't come here to apologize. He had come to finish the job to make sure I was out of the way.
