“Wife?” The crowd buzzed in whispers, their eyes darting back and forth to the stage.
Emma Lewis’s smile faded, her brows knitting together.
My face fell. “Ronald Wright, what nonsense are you spouting? We’re divorced. Who’s your wife?”
“Divorced? So what? Can’t people get married again?” Ronald strolled toward me, his tone steady and measured, like he had all the time in the world.
“We got remarried a while ago. You just threw a fit and refused to come home with me, so I kept quiet,” he said calmly.
He stopped right in front of me. His handsome face showed a faint, controlling smile, but I could see the restrained anger burning behind his eyes.
“I’m not blaming you for forgetting. But just two weeks ago, we were still in the same bed. You might even be carrying my baby. And now you’re marrying another man without a word? Isabella, that’s cold.”
His words hit like a bomb. Gasps rippled through the audience, eyes widened in shock.
