The phone was on speaker. I instinctively glanced at Ronald Wright. His handsome face was unreadable, but his dark eyes flickered to me with an inscrutable look.
I gave an awkward smile. I knew Ronald and I didn’t exactly have the best history, but I didn’t expect even my teacher to know how bad it was. It must’ve been really terrible.
Just as I was about to speak, Ronald snatched the phone from me. He briefly explained my memory loss to Nicholas Perry and asked for his address, promising to have someone pick him up later so they could talk in detail.
And then he hung up.
I craned my neck towards him. “So… did Mr. Perry say anything else?”
“Not much. You can catch up with him when he comes.” Ronald handed me back my phone. Wrapping an arm around my waist, he pulled me onto his lap. His voice was calm but carried a hint of displeasure. “Dog-man, huh? Seems like you used to call me that a lot.”
