My pulse quickened the moment Arthur walked in. For reasons I didn't want to admit, his presence calmed me in a way nothing else could. With him here, everything suddenly felt… safe.
"Mr. Sandlin, how do you want this handled? She's Andy's cousin. If we come down too hard, this could get messy." The station chief shifted nervously, his voice low and careful.
