“There’s always another way.” James kept his eyes on the road, though deep down, he wasn’t so sure either.
They were driving from the northwest part of the city toward downtown. It'd still take over forty minutes to get to Anwen Hospital. Neither of them spoke the whole way—just too drained to bother.
Maria opened WeChat and saw a reply from Angela, sent two hours ago. Just a simple “Not hard at all.”
While typing, Maria mumbled, “Can you help me find a few bodyguards? We can’t afford to leave him unattended at the hospital.”
As she hit send, the message read: [Auntie, I’ll be at the hospital soon. You can take a break.]
She should’ve arranged bodyguards when Daniel woke up, but the thought slipped her mind when she left for the hotel with James. It wasn’t until she saw the chat that she remembered.
