Chapter 49
Back when they were overseas, Maria honestly couldn’t tell if Noah really didn’t get it or was just pretending to be clueless—no matter how many times she brushed him off, he just kept being nice to her.
So she just started treating him colder, hoping he’d finally take the hint and back off.
A few days later, the guy suddenly flew back home in a rush. He didn’t even stick around for the goodbye dinner he said he’d treat her to. Maria figured that was probably the last she’d see of him.
So, running into him again was the last thing she expected.
Someone in the distance recognized Noah and called out his name.
He waved back, then turned to her and said, “Maria, I’ve gotta take care of something real quick. I’ll catch you later, alright?”
Maria gave a slight nod. “Go ahead, don’t worry about me.”
The venue was getting more packed by the minute, the noise level rising. As Maria looked around, a sudden thought popped into her head.
The Summer family probably sent someone here too.
