Chapter 17
Miranda hung up the phone, glanced at the time, and went back to editing photos.
Taylor and Wayne had just reached that floor when they noticed a light on and came over to take a look.
Beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city glittered with life. The bright lights and buzzing streets reflected the city's liveliness and grandeur.
The office was lit by nothing but a single white lamp and the faint glow of a computer screen, like a firefly under the moonlight. And yet, they lit up Miranda's face clearly.
"Hey, isn't that the woman from..." Taylor wanted to walk in, but Wayne grabbed him and pulled him back. "What are you doing? She's exactly my type!"
"She's working."
Taylor let out a sigh, thinking it was indeed not a good time. Then, something occurred to him.
"Wait a second. She's working late into the night because of you, right? Did you pressure her into this? It's late, and the buses are about to stop running. It's dangerous for a woman walking around this late alone."
