I keep the mantra on repeat in my head as I work. He’s probably still angry from last night, and with the confusion I feel and the rejection, I don’t exactly want to be anywhere near Nolan. He acted like the kiss wasn’t his choice, too.
Pushing me away like that and yelling at me was uncalled for, not to mention the harsh tone he used. Honestly, it was almost more of his fault than mine because he’s the one who brought me to work when I was drunk and should have been off for the night.
I’m lucky that my work today keeps me mostly at my desk, but I sigh as I look down at the coffee machine. It churns, almost like it’s mocking me, because now I have to go to his office. I’ve been dreading this moment for the last hour. I don’t feel like seeing a man who clearly doesn’t like me.
If he wants coffee, maybe he should get it himself.
