I paused for a second but I didn’t look back. It was the first time that he’d said that word to me and I knew it wasn’t easy for him.
I smirked discreetly—knowing that I’d succeeded in earning his forgiveness. Whatever disagreement that we’d earlier was now a memory.
As I walked towards my room, I felt a weight being lifted off my shoulder. I could breathe again without having to worry about Adrian being angry with me.
I closed the door behind me and then leaned on it. I breathed heavily, starting to feel the exhaustion for the day catching up with me. I’d been focused on earning Adrian’s approval that I’d forgotten that I was still nursing injuries.
I Jumped on to my bed and laid my head on my pillow. Before I knew it, I was consumed in a deep sleep—one with no worry but hope for better things to come.
It was a deep sweet slumber without dreams –I was simply enjoying my moment of peace like a soldier who’d defeated his enemies in the battle field and was now rewarding h
