Ezra drew back slightly after intentionally holding his head out so the raindrops could fall on it.
He'd been standing outside the balcony longer than he normally would, especially on a stormy night. But he just couldn't make himself go back inside.
The cold night air was heavy with the scent of wet trees, and the thick darkness surrounded him like a presence.
“God, I'm such a fool,” he muttered to himself as he pushed the wet bangs of his hair off his forehead, then sighed.
He was definitely worse than a fool, with the number of problems he'd gotten himself into in such a short while.
It'd only be a matter of time before his father completely gave up on him.
He sighed and moved to lean over the balcony railings again.
He stayed like that for a few minutes, then suddenly raised his head, a confused frown settling over his face as he looked around.
There was no one there except him. But his mind had somehow tried to convince him that someone….
