Chapter 28
"Mom, you can't do this to us." Sally was upset.
"You were the one who gave birth to us, so you have to take responsibility. If you were going to abandon us, you shouldn't have given birth to us in the first place."
Seeing how agitated she was, Samuel quickly pulled Sally behind him and comforted me, "Mom, you know how impatient Sally is, so don't take her words to heart.
"Dad has already yelled at us and told us not to take you for granted. He even told us to help you with chores from now on, so don't worry.
"If you come home with us, we'll treat you well. We won't treat you like a housekeeper and order you around like we used to anymore."
Despite everything they said, it was clear they simply wanted me to go back to serving them. None of them truly cared about me or missed me.
Everything that I had done for them in the past decades was a joke, and I was the punchline. All that, and I couldn't even earn their love.
What little hope I had left for them was immediately shattered.
