Reina's dull, lifeless eyes suddenly lit up. "Right. Xavier has always taken my birthday seriously. He'll be there for sure!"
In the days that followed, she ignored Hugo's barrage of phone calls and threw herself into preparing for her birthday party. She booked a renowned string quartet to perform in the garden restaurant and even arranged for a fireworks show.
All that was left was for Xavier to show up.
Time ticked by, minute after minute. Midnight came, but Xavier never appeared.
Reina buried her face in her hands and sobbed uncontrollably. Her voice was thick with despair and regret. "Xavier, how could you be this cruel? You won't even give me a chance to make things right? Do you want to see me dead before you'll show your face? Fine. Then I'll give you what you want!"
She headed straight for the racetrack and swung her leg over the bike. Just as she was about to take off, her friends rushed in and blocked her path.
