#Chapter 13: Reason
Albert's POV
Ivan and I raced through the city streets to get to the hospital. The image of Mia, vulnerable and injured, filled my mind. By the time we reached the hospital, a sense of urgency had morphed into a cold, steely resolve.
Pushing through the automatic doors of the hospital, I found Katie in the waiting room, her face etched with a mixture of concern and anger. Relief washed over me as I spotted Mia seated beside him, her arm in a sling.
The sight of her injury, a small bruise on her arm, sent a phantom ache through me, a physical manifestation of the fear that had gripped me moments ago. Fear and pain, huh? I guess I couldn’t deny that Mia was special to me anymore.
As our eyes met, a ghost of a smile played on her lips, a silent understanding passing between us. She was alright. I looked away, struggling with the rush of emotions inside me.
"How are you?" I rasped, my voice rough with concern as I materialized beside Mia.
