CHAPTER 397: SHATTERING THINGS
Lauretta returns to her apartment, trying to engrave herself with its familiar warmth. Her heart was still heavy as she tried to make sense of what had happened in the last few days. As soon as she stepped through the door, she felt the weight of it all come crashing down. Tears began streaming down her face as she let out a violent sob.
She looked about, looking for what might ease the frustration she felt. She started with a vase, smashing it on the floor, and before long, she was scattering items around the apartment in a fit of anger. She was midway throwing another vase when she paused, looking at the mess she made.
Sliding slowly to the floor, she wept violently. She couldn't understand why Ryan had spoken to her so harshly, and at the same time, she was baffled that George had not even bothered to call and check on her.
She sniffed as she pulled out her ringing phone. It was her assistant.
