Chapter 20
Rosalie followed Linda to her house. There, she told Linda everything that had happened between her and Lucas.
The setting sun's rays streamed in through the window. Linda's gaze was filled with heartache and sympathy after she heard Rosalie's story.
She stood up and pulled Rosalie in for a hug. Then, she patted her back and said, "Don't be sad, Rosie. It's all in the past now."
Rosalie had been trying hard to hold back her tears, but her nose prickled as she sank into Linda's warm embrace. Her tears flowed freely, and the fear and anguish that she'd kept bottled up since Lucas' appearance burst forth. She released them in the form of tears.
Linda kept patting her back, her hand gentle and warm.
How could Rosalie not feel aggrieved? She'd felt so loved every day for the past three years, and she and Lucas had been through so much together. She could remember their time together with such detail that it was almost as if everything had happened just yesterday.
