Caesar felt like he'd been struck by lightning. His hand locked around the phone, his knuckles bone-white. "What did you just say?"
Just then, the car drove into a tunnel, and the signal conveniently got cut out. The call dropped automatically.
"Turn around! Head to the Booth residence!" Caesar's voice was ice-cold, and his eyes burned with a resolve that brooked no argument.
Startled, Peter's grip faltered. The wheel spun under his palms, but he caught it just in time; he wrenched the car into a sharp U-turn.
He had never seen Caesar like this.
Caesar, the embodiment of restraint, now looked unrecognizable—his eyes bloodshot, his jaw locked so tightly it trembled. The air around him pulsed with fury.
They sped to the Booth residence. Caesar didn't even wait for the car to stop fully before kicking the door open and storming inside.
