When Evelyn arrived at Heartland Hospital, Vincent Lowell was already waiting for her.
He walked up as soon as he saw her and muttered, "This place has totally lost it," tapping the side of his head meaningfully.
Judging by Nathaniel' behavior lately, he really did seem to be losing it. Being locked up for so long, surrounded by people who genuinely weren't right in the head—anyone would break eventually. And with Evelyn's orders to keep him medicated, it was no wonder.
Vincent didn't feel bad for him at all. He knew damn well that if someone's out to hurt you, being soft only sets you up for a more miserable ending.
Evelyn shot him a quick look and just let out a cold snort. Even if Nathaniel was truly insane now, it still didn't feel like enough payback.
She followed Vincent through the hall and soon found herself in front of the locked room where Nathaniel was being kept. Compared to the last time she'd seen him, he looked even worse this time—barely recognizable.
