Evelyn got up early the next morning.
She slipped into an ankle-length white floral dress, paired with a modest pair of three-centimeter heels. Then she grabbed a black blazer from her wardrobe. After putting on a light layer of makeup, she tied her long hair into a half-up ponytail.
Looking at her reflection—well-groomed, radiant—Evelyn gave a small, satisfied smile.
She picked a sleek black mini shoulder bag, one of the latest designs, and finally headed downstairs.
At the dining table, George and Amelia were already having breakfast. Seated next to Amelia was Emily.
Evelyn walked over and sat down across from them, deliberately picking the empty seat farthest from the trio.
Glancing at the Western-style breakfast on the table, Evelyn frowned slightly and turned to the butler.
"Mr. Sullivan, is there any smoked salmon and eggs?"
"Yes, I'll have someone bring it right out," the butler replied, quickly heading to the kitchen.
Evelyn took a couple sips of warm water while waiting.
