**Thelma Zane’s POV** After an eventful night, I managed to take a brief nap in the baby’s room. When I woke, sunlight had begun to creep through the windows, casting a warm glow across the room. My feet felt a comforting warmth, and as I glanced down, I saw Maxine sprawled on the carpet beside me. A soft blanket had been placed over me, and a cup of hot tea sat waiting on a small table nearby. Thanks to the superior healing abilities of my body, the physical pain from childbirth had entirely dissipated. I stretched my stiff legs, inadvertently waking Maxine from her nap. “You’re awake?” she said groggily, yawning wide enough to flash her sharp teeth under the crystal light. “The baby was a bit fussy earlier. Aldrich went to fetch the doctor.” As if on cue, Aldrich entered the room, the doctor following close behind. Despite his calm demeanor, I could see traces of concern in Aldrich’s eyes. “You’re awake, my dear,” he said softly, pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead.
