To the west of the city-state, there was nothing—no remnants of civilization, not even ruins to mark where life once thrived. The land stretched out, barren and lifeless, a grim reminder of the destruction Kafka’s light cocoon could unleash.
The devastation had halted just a few kilometers from the shelter. The realization of how close it had come made my heart race. If Kafka’s rampage had lasted even a minute longer, the consequences would have been catastrophic. Fortunately, we had managed to subdue him in time.
As we neared the shelter, the air was filled with the sounds of chaos—howls, roars, and the unmistakable clash of battle. The sight before us was harrowing.
