Scarlett
A soft knock pulls me from the light edge of sleep. However, I ignored it, thinking that maybe I was just dreaming again.
Just as I was about to drift to my dreamland, when I heard a soft knock again.
“Scarlett?” Kathleen’s voice filters through the door, warm but careful.
I sighed, pushing the hair from my face and took off the blanket that wrapped around me. “Come in.”
The door opens, and Kathleen slips inside, balancing a tray. The scent of fresh bread and tea drifts through the room.
“I thought you might want breakfast here,” she says, setting the tray on the low table near the window. “You were up late.”
“Have you done something wrong?” I reach for the tea first, wrapping my fingers around the cup’s warmth.
“What do you mean by that?” She asked while her eyes lingers on the plate and adjust it so that it won’t fall.
“Why are you extra nice right now? Bringing breakfast to my bed. Did you do something and want me to cover it up?” I asked and watched her froze and gave me a
