Scarlett's POV
I hadn't managed to convince Lucien yesterday to leave his room—he had forced me to sleep again, to get some rest. In the morning, when I saw that he was still sleeping deeply, I stared at him for a few minutes before I gently removed his hand from my waist.
The process was so nerve-wracking that I was sweating while trying to move his hand smoothly and gently so he wouldn't wake up.
Maybe because he was too tired, and it was his first proper sleep in the last four days, he didn't wake up—when before, he would have woken instantly at even the slightest movement from me.
I let out a sigh of relief and hurried out of his room, then went to mine to take a bath and change my clothes.
I did all of that in just two hours and thirty minutes before heading to the courtyard.
My cloak clung to my shoulders as I walked carefully and gently to the courtyard to see what the warriors were doing.
My arms and legs were still trembling, sweat beading on my forehead, but I felt more alive
