Silas had been hunched over on the swing to make phone calls for too long.
A sharp pain shot through his wrist the moment he moved, and the hand holding the phone began to tremble uncontrollably.
He watched as the phone slipped from his grasp and landed beside the night lamp Elodie had installed on the rooftop terrace. He felt suffocated before his vision slowly blurred. He could no longer hold back the sorrow crashing over him and broke down in heart-wrenching sobs.
Elodie had left him. She had left behind everything they had started.
He sat in a daze. His mind was spinning with chaotic memories, including the wedding where they exchanged rings and the lies he told on the phone so he could sneak off to sleep with Avery.
Every scene and every moment rushed in like waves crashing over him. He felt like he was losing his mind.
