Chapter 21
Hunter could not wait until their tenth anniversary. He flipped through the sketchbook, page by page, unable to stop himself.
It was then that he realized every single drawing was of him. There were sketches of the first time they met, of him making her laugh, of him cradling a kitten in his arms, and even of the moment he got down on one knee to propose.
Then, on the final pages—he saw himself on the plane, walking away from Estrella, chasing after Rowan. With just one wall between them, he and Rowan had kissed as if no one else existed.
Hunter laughed as tears streamed down his face. Regret and self-loathing clawed at his chest, suffocating him from the inside out.
Punch after punch, he slammed his fists against the ground, desperate to feel something, anything—yet the pain was not enough.
He thought, "Did Estrella feel the same? Was she in this much pain? No… This isn't enough. Not even close."
Grabbing the whiskey bottle, he poured the alcohol over his still-healing wound. A
