Even though the footage lasted only a few seconds, Cassandra clearly saw the concern in Tristan's eyes.
"So, he really did rush over there," she murmured, her voice tinged with bitterness.
She didn't even know why she felt this way. Their marriage had been impulsive and was a matter of mutual benefit. What was she expecting?
Just then, Tristan came out of the kitchen with two dishes, breaking her train of thought.
"Cassie, dinner's ready," he said with a smile, placing the plates on the table.
On the table was a steaming bowl of chicken stew, along with two flavorful side dishes—garlic butter shrimp and sautéed greens.
Tristan's cooking had always been good. The portions were large, but they were enough for the two of them, and they were all her favorite dishes. Her heart began to beat faster again.
"Try the stew. I added some herbs—it's good for you," Tristan said gently.
"Thanks. These are all my favorites," Cassandra said, setting aside her thoughts and speaking with gratitu
