Hugo stared at me like a deer caught in headlights, completely blindsided by my question.
"What do you mean 'what's in it for me'?" he finally managed.
I watched as the gears slowly turned in his head. His expression shifted from confusion to understanding, his lips curling into what he probably thought was a reassuring smile.
"Sylvia, I understand your concerns," he said with an air of condescension that made my wolf want to snap at him. "Don't overthink this. Don't be afraid. Just leave everything to me."
I blinked slowly, trying to process what I was hearing. Leave everything to him? Was he actually suggesting what I thought he was?
