Howard almost couldn't stop himself from telling Stella who he really was. But in the end, he held back. He was here today to make things clear with Megan about Jimmy. He didn't want to stir up more trouble. Seeing Stella's eyes darting around as though she wanted to run, Howard quickly reassured her. "Don't be afraid. I am not a bad person," he said gently. But Stella's body language made it obvious. She didn't want to stay here any longer. "I once had a child too…" Howard said softly. The image of Megan covered in blood, sobbing in his arms, suddenly resurfaced before his eyes. His voice grew lower. "But later… it was gone. When I see you, I can't help but think of my child." He added, "I'm sorry for scaring you. The reason I wanted you to draw me in was because I thought of my child." Perhaps sensing his genuine sorrow, Stella stopped edging away. To Howard's surprise, she even reached out and lightly patted the back of his hand, as if to comfort him. Howard almost laughed
