Alas, it was too late by the time Janet ran back outside. Terence was no longer by the flower bed.
Chantelle ran after Janet. Through the gaps in the black fences, she noticed a shadow of someone walking past, getting into a car, and leaving.
"Haven't I told you not to accept food from strangers?" she questioned.
Pouting, Janet argued, "But that man isn't a stranger. He comes to the orphanage every day. We've promised each other!"
"Why did you make promises with that man?" Chantelle's head hurt because of her chatterbox of a daughter. "Besides, the doctor from a while back said that your stomach gets upset easily, so you shouldn't be eating anything too heavy. You've got to cut down on meat and sweets."
Since she was young, Janet was a guzzler. She loved sweet foods and meat. Despite that, she didn't gain weight and had a smaller physique compared to children of her age.
