Edith waved at Xavier from where she was seated on the couch. "You don't have to tell me any of this. You're not going to get what you want tonight."
"Why?" Xavier asked, his brows knitting together. "Do you disapprove as well?"
"Am I the type of person to change my opinions so easily?" Edith rolled her eyes at him. "Tamara is out of the country for an emergency. You should stay the night for now and drop by the company to handle any business that needs to be taken care of."
Whatever happened must have been serious for Tamara to personally make an appearance. Xavier knew that she wouldn't return for the next few days in situations like these. He felt like he had been doused by a bucket of ice water, feeling cold both inside and out.
