VALENTINA
As I hurried out of the pack house, I bumped into Rey. She looked cheerful and excited. Something good must have happened.
“Hey, Val, Something—”
“Not now, Rey,” I stopped her. As much as I wanted to learn it, I don't have time now!
My tone sounded very rude and abrupt, making her freeze, but I had no time to explain, nor did I want to drag her into this danger.
She blinked, "Wha-at's wrong?" She looked sad, also concerned.
Sighing, I hold her by the shoulders. "Look, I am a little busy right now. Go back to your home, okay? Don't roam around at this hour. Now, go back.”
She looked more confused but thankfully didn't argue and nodded in agreement.
“Good!” I murmured and left without saying anything.
I ran through the woods, my heart was pounding so hard and I wouldn't lie; I was so freaking scared.
Seeing Papa this way is beyond my capability to accept. If something happened to him, I could never forgive myself, nor could I survive.
