“She’s pregnant,” I heard the doctor say to an impatiently waiting Ethan. My heart skipped a beat, and a rush of emotions surged through me. The sterile hospital room suddenly felt warmer, more alive. Despite my weak state, I felt a flicker of joy ignite within me. I clung to that feeling, desperate for any semblance of happiness amidst the chaos of my life.
