Chapter 489
The blast shook their car hard.
A heavy object slammed into the windshield and shattered it instantly.
Shards flew everywhere. Broderick Ackerley immediately wrapped Leslie Green in his arms, shielding her completely. A muffled grunt escaped him as glass sliced into his arm, and the sharp scent of blood filled the vehicle.
Leslie struggled out of his grip. “Broderick! Are you okay?”
He gave her a reassuring smile. “I’m fine. As long as you didn’t get hurt, Leslie.”
Her eyes narrowed once she saw the shallow cut across his face. Though it wasn’t deep, the streak of blood stood out against his pale skin—and it looked bad.
She reached up to gently wipe the blood from his cheek, but then she saw it: a piece of glass sticking out of his arm.
Still, Broderick tried to comfort her. “Leslie, I'm really okay.”
And with that, he pulled the glass out himself. Blood gushed out.
Leslie quickly handed him some tissues and had him press down on the wound, then moved to open the door.
