Their investigation stemmed from that huge bang, that ray of blue light and the strange men that infiltrated Ysle Springs. Azrael couldn't believe that Javier was involved in all of this. In fact, not a single person saw it coming.
"I killed them to feed my precious, of course." Javier laughed.
It delighted him to see Azrael in pain. It felt exhilarating.
"I've been preparing for their deaths before I even brought you to Ouranos. They were the best form fertilizer I could find. They were also my precious' preferred choice.
"I brought you to Ouranos in order to grow my own influence. I needed to prepare for the day I betrayed the organization. Unfortunately, you turned out to be a brainless buck."
Javier glanced at the lake. The milky water was bubbling more vigorously than before, and it had mysteriously become clear.
"Your meridians were blocked, and you couldn't conjure a core of your own. Hence, I gave up on you. Even if I didn't, you'd be nothing but my lackey right now."
