Fergus chuckled. "Wait for me. I'll be there soon. I need to capture him myself."
Then, he hung up.
Mary frowned. What exactly did Fergus want with Perseus?
Even as his so-called girlfriend—or more accurately, one of his many playthings—she had never been privy to the deeper secrets of his organization. After all, toys weren't meant to ask questions. They were meant to serve their purpose.
Perseus kept his foot on the gas, following Alfred's directions.
He had assumed Williams Castle was much farther away, but it turned out to be only about 50 miles away. Ebrea's sparse population meant empty roads, and with no traffic to slow him down, he reached the castle in less than an hour.
But "castle" was a generous term. The imposing structure before him resembled an ancient church more than a fortress.
Stepping out of the car, his senses immediately sharpened. Something wasn't right.
The moment he crossed the castle's gates, they slammed shut behind him.
