Maverick left in a rush. He checked the time on his watch, grabbed his car keys, and leaned down to kiss Heidi on the forehead before heading out. As Heidi stood on the second floor, she watched the black SUV pull away into the distance. After changing, she drove out in the Cadwells' rarely used Porsche. Debra had given her the keys after she'd returned the day before. Heidi hadn't wanted to take them at first, but since Debra insisted, she accepted. After all, it was just a temporary ride.
