After dropping the coffee off at her own office, she headed toward the CEO's office.
Julian stood by the floor-to-ceiling window with his head down, fiddling with his phone, like he’d just wrapped up a call.
Claire glanced at his neck—there was a band-aid.
Keeping calm, she said, “Mr. Archer, is there something you need?”
“Come with me to the hospital later.”
“…Are we going for a rabies shot?”
"…"
His fingers paused mid-air. He turned to her. “What?”
Suppressing her irritation, she said, “I heard you got bitten by a cat while taking a walk last night. No offense, but maybe dial it back a little… cats don’t usually bite unless someone messes with them.”
Julian stared at her with those deep-set eyes for a moment, then casually walked over to his desk, set down his phone, and sat down. “I never said I got bitten. I’m guessing Kenneth and Michael couldn't figure out why I had a band-aid here and just made up something. Kittens are adorable—why would I hurt one?”
