Joshua stepped off the ferry and was immediately hit by a gust of cold wind that made him shiver. As soon as he left the port, he saw a news broadcast playing on a kiosk TV about the successful launch of the cross-sea bridge project.
Lexi stood confidently on camera, dressed in her work uniform and safety helmet. "I may not be able to see colors anymore, and I'm not a genius, but in my field, I'm one of the best."
Her words, sharp and confident, struck Joshua like a lightning bolt from memories long gone. He could see the old Lexi again, that brilliant, unstoppable force.
He remembered the time he'd been targeted with the latest timed bomb technology, three countdown timers ticking down, and no one in the world able to crack it.
Everyone in Galoria assumed he was doomed. Even he had thought the same. And then, in his darkest moment, Lexi appeared, stepping calmly through the shadows.
She took his hand gently. "Don't be afraid. I'm here to save you."
